I practiced yoga on and off -a class or video here and there- for almost fifteen years before the practice really stuck. I am in awe of the many students and teachers who were hooked for life after one class. It took me years to let go of my ideas about the practice long enough to reap the benefits. Stepping into a class is, after all, a leap of faith. We trust that the rest of the world can go on without us for 90 minutes, while we focus on the breath and the physical body. Yoga asks us to let go completely, so that we may return more robust and refreshed. It took me fifteen years to believe it, but it really does work.
Once I learned how to stop worrying and love the practice, I wanted to learn as much as I could about it. I completed my 200 and 500 hour teacher trainings in 2009 and 2010, having learned that like all the finest things in life, yoga is best when it is shared.
